Amalgam Replacements

Dr. Yankie does not use amalgam as it is no longer a technically sound restoration with the advent of current composite technology. It is not just for its mercury content. Amalgam fillings oxidize and expand over time turning into a virtual wedge as you chew and clench which can crack and damage your teeth. It is therefore prudent to replace older amalgam fillings in a timely manner. Amalgam is no longer the material of choice. Please consult the doctor and ask if your old fillings are ready to be replaced.
